Airborne Mission Systems Apprentice

You will train in electronic principles and learn to operate airborne electronic communications equipment. As an aircrew member, you will perform preflight, in-flight and postflight duties to support the unit mission. You will operate various types of radio equipment, including voice, Teletype, data link, airborne radio relay, satellite terminal, electronic direction finding and electronic countermeasures equipment. You will also maintain and repair malfunctioning equipment, replace defective components on aircraft audio distribution systems and secure data/voice systems and satellite communications systems. After you complete technical school, your assignment will be to a specific aircraft. You will continue your training on that aircraft at your first duty assignment. Your assignment may be either to a stateside or overseas base. The most common types of aircraft to which you may be assigned are the C-9, C-135, C-137, EC-130, HC-130, MC-130, EC-135, E-3 and E-4.
