Electrical Power Production Apprentice

As a power production apprentice, you will install, operate, maintain, repair and inspect power production plants and equipment along with aircraft-arresting barriers. You will check equipment for serviceability prior to installation. You will check installed equipment such as gasoline, diesel, turbine and arresting engines; generators; and switchgear for compliance with technical publications, maintenance policies and directives. You will operate equipment and observe and interpret instruments and gauges for operating condition. You will make adjustments to operating equipment, both manual and remote high-voltage-generator circuits and distribution system controls. You will identify and record engine and generator malfunctions and troubleshoot and repair defective power-generating components. You will use the latest state-of-the-art test equipment to determine operational readiness of power production equipment. You will determine extent of repair needed and perform overhaul as required. You will interpret maintenance malfunction data and electrical wiring diagrams relative to electrical power-generating systems and aircraft-arresting barriers to prevent potential weapon systems failure.
