Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory Apprentice

As a precision measurement equipment laboratory (PMEL) apprentice, you will be an integral part of the U.S. Air Force Metrology Program, which affects virtually every operational and support mission of the Air Force. Metrology is the science of weights and measures ensuring precise accuracy and tolerance of intricate electronic and physical dimensional test equipment used throughout the Air Force and Department of Defense. You will certify the tractability of these accuracies from using agencies all the way to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. You will accomplish this through application of electronic theories, malfunction isolation, schematic analysis and calibration. Your duties will encompass the use, alignment, troubleshooting and calibration of equipment in the following areas: voltage, current, power, impedance, frequency, temperature, humidity, length, mass and radiation. The majority of your work will be accomplished in an environmentally controlled condition under laboratory settings. Your work will require patience, self-discipline and exactness since your measurement may be in increments as small as millionths. In this age of modern technology, an Air Force weapon systems error is unacceptable. As a PMEL apprentice, you will be a vital link ensuring all electronic and physical dimensional support equipment operates accurately. PAY CHART
