Special operations weather apprentices support the special forces/operations teams. They are capable
of operating atmospheric, space saving instruments and computer work stations to retrieve data from radars and
weather satellites. The special operations weather apprentice will learn to plan, supervise, give instructions and
perform evaluations on special operations weather teams. They have the responsibility to collect, analyze, and
predict oceanographic, meteorological and space atmosphere conditions, merge and prepare reports on weather
advisories, warnings and inclement environmental conditions. As an apprentice, you will collect weather data,
observe meteorological conditions and integrate into military making decisions. Additionally, you will also learn
how to read and interpret weather satellite imagery, climatology reports, and computerized weather prediction. Air
Force weather personnel are stationed around the world in all sorts of climatic conditions. They may provide direct
support of Air Force and Army combat operations.
