The imagery analyst is considered the eyes of the intelligence community. Imagery analysis involves identifying, analyzing and reporting targets observed on film. Besides analyzing standard optical imagery, the analyst will also learn the theory and application involved in interpreting radar, infrared and multispectral imagery. Additionally, he/she will be trained to assist reconnaissance aircrew members in planning, recovering and interpreting imagery from tactical aircraft such as C 130s, U 2s, SR 71s, F 14s and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles - remotely controlled pilot-less aircraft). Intelligence derived by the imagery analyst is used in upgrading military intelligence databases at national, regional and local levels. Digitization is currently revolutionizing the format that the analyst uses for analysis of imagery. A great deal of the imagery is now digitized and displayed on computer terminals to allow the vast power of computers to assist the imagery analyst. Imagery products include battle damage assessment (BDA), order of battle (OOB), lines of communication (LOC) surveys, helicopter landing zones (HLZ), coastal landing beach analysis, target identification and imagery interpretation reports. Imagery analysis is one of the most exciting, challenging, multifaceted and highly technical jobs that today's Air Force has to offer. PAY CHART
