Sensor Operator

A sensor operator operates UAS mission equipment, systems, electro-optical sensor systems, and electronic protection (EP) equipment. Sensor operators gather, record, display, and distribute mission information, and assist in mission planning, including close air support, interdiction, armed reconnaissance, combat search and rescue, and limited forward air control. An individual in the sensor operator field maintains communications with ground, air, and maritime units and monitors radio communications. They perform airborne operations functions under training and operational conditions and promote and instill situational awareness in all aspects of airborne operations. Sensor operators perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), basic surface attack (BSA) using the precision guided munitions, close air support (CAS), and performs real-time battle damage assessment.
