AIRFIELD MANAGEMENT

The projection of airpower warrants the need for a takeoff surface, a safe place to land, and a secure, efficient, and effective airfield environment for Airmen and Aviators. Airfield Management is responsible for routine airport safety inspections, maintenance coordination, oversight of airport pavements, Visual Navigational Aids and Facilities, airfield components, and the enforcement of DoD or Host Nation airfield design criteria. Airfield Management sterilizes the environment to allow the safe passage of aircrew, regulates and enforces ground operation and driving procedures, plans and oversees airport construction, performs National Airspace System flight following , develops a systematized plan for the parking of aircraft, conducts wildlife deterrence, performs emergency response and dispatches first responders as a vital element in the National Incident Management System, and publishes advisories for airport users.
