Oregon State Benefits
Air National Guard members are paid equally based on their rank and years of service. You’re also eligible for additional compensation based on your position and where you’re stationed.

01 Education Benefits
The Oregon Air National Guard State Tuition Assistance (ONGSTA) program pays for member’s first Associates and first Bachelors Degree at all public Oregon universities and community colleges (including select private universities). The program also covers up to $1,000 a year in books and $175 per term in fees (pro-rated to the amount of credits enrolled).

02 State Tax Benefits
Oregon Air National Guard members who are Oregon residents will enjoy tax-free basic pay while on active orders (permanent or temporary). Military pay isn't taxed by Oregon for those who are stationed in Oregon but are domiciled outside of Oregon. If you are an Oregon resident stationed in Oregon up to $6,000 of your military pay may qualify for a subtraction.

03 Medical Benefits
Oregon Air National Guard members are eligible for TRICARE Reserve Select medical and dental coverage for a small fee. Members on state-summoned active duty are eligible for workers’ comp.

Members have access to a modern base gym and professional running track.

05 RETIREMENT POINTS
Earn 40 points per year for a good year toward retirement (Drill Status Guardsmen). Oregon also provides a pension for Air Guard members retiring with at least 20 years of service.

06 MISCELLANEOUS
Oregon state employees who serve in the Air National Guard get 15 days of paid military leave per year. Oregon Air National Guard members are eligible for state veterans’ home loans and are exempt from performing jury duty, qualify to participate in the federal credit union, and have exclusive access to distinctive auto plates.
