Virginia State Benefits
Air National Guard members are paid equally based on their rank and years of service. You’re also eligible for additional compensation based on your position and where you’re stationed.

01 Education Benefits
Virginia offers its Air National Guard members up to $10,000 a semester and $20,000 a year for any in-state college.

02 COMPREHENSIVE PROTECTION
Injured Virginia Air National Guard members on state-summoned active duty will receive pay, allowance, and medical expenses for 90 days. Surviving spouses of Air National Guard members killed while on state-summoned active duty will receive $500 for funeral expenses, death gratuity, and a pension.

03 STATE TAX ADVANTAGE
Virginia Air National Guard members ranked 0-3 and below enjoy a $3,000 military pay exclusion on state income taxes.

04 MISCELLANEOUS
Virginia state employees who serve in the Air National Guard get 15 days of military leave per year. Additionally, Air National Guard members have exclusive access to distinctive auto tags at a reduced rate.
